Pandora Care Instructions

Genuine pieces of jewellery provide lasting memories and symbolise the unforgettable moments in your life. Because jewellery is kept for many years, the precious metals, stones and pearls need maintenance and care. Gold and silver are soft metals and become worn with use. This applies to all gold and silver jewellery. Depending on the degree of use, it is recommended that your jewellery is checked around once a year by a trained goldsmith. In particular it is important that clasps, mounts and soldering are checked.

Jewellery should be removed before going to bed or when performing work or exercise that will subject the jewellery to undue wear. The Pandora warranty does not cover normal wear and tear.

Avoid contact with make-up, creams and perfumes.

Do not take a bath, shower or wash up when wearing a bracelets with pearls.

Chlorine and Salt Water - Both salt and chlorine with corrode the surface and gold and silver and makes the surface dull and uninteresting!

Use a jewellery polishing cloth to freshen up the bracelet’s appearance and restore the original luster. Polishing cloths come in a variety of choices and sizes, made specifically for either gold or silver or for both.

Should further cleaning be required the jewellery (with the exception of pearl & wood - these should only be cleaned with a soft brush or a cloth) may be placed in warm water with a few drops of dish-washing liquid and gently scrubbed with a soft toothbrush. The toothbrush is an excellent tool for jewellery with patterns which may otherwise be difficult to clean. In order to remove harder caked-on dirt soak for about 10 minutes before you gently scrub. Rinse thoroughly with water and polish with a jewellery cloth.

Never immerse Pandora Jewellery in liquid jewellery cleaner or harsh chemicals (chlorine, household cleaning products etc), this will remove oxidation treatment, which gives many charms their detail.

Care Guides for Specific Items

Oxidised Jewellery is meant to fade to an antique look as it is worn.  How quickly the oxidation (the black bits!) disappears, depends on how the jewellery is treated.  Things which can cause the oxidation to fade include sweat (if you wear jewellery while engaging in sport), chlorine, perfumes, cleaning agents and polish. Oxidation that fades is considered normal wear.

Wood Beads are made from resilient timbers and are protected by layers of lacquer which enhance the durability of this natural product. A natural product is delicate and wood beads should be handled with care. No contact with chemicals, perfume, creams, soaps or silver polish as this will strip or discolour the protective lacquer.  Wood will withstand occasional contact with water, but no immersion or contact with pool/spa chemicals. Do not wear your wood beads during an activity that could be abrasive on the surface.  To clean, use a polishing cloth on the silver part only (not the timber). The warranty on Pandora wood beads is for 30 days after purchase.

Bracelets - Pandora bracelets will expand slightly over time.  The increase in length will vary depending on how many beads are on the bracelet/s.  Fixed clip beads are recommended to minimise stretching.  They should be used to evenly distribute your Pandora beads around the bracelet and thus reduce stress caused by too many beads hanging on one particular section of the bracelet.

Pandora Clasp Bracelets - When closing your Pandora clasp never use force.  Ensure the bracelet is sitting correctly in the bed of the clasp. Never use tools to open the clasp (with the exception of the Pandora clasp opener). If you are having problems with a bracelet bought from us then please return it back to the store for us to examine.

Threading Your Pandora beads - Pandora beads should be gently threaded on the bracelet.  Should a bead get stuck on the thread, return it for repair - do not force the beads off, or cut the chain.

Pandora Murano Glass Beads - These beads are glass and should be treated with care to avoid chips or cracks.

Pandora Beads With Pearls - These beads should never be worn in water containing detergents or chemicals.  Special care should be taken with pearls as any product containing a high alkaline content such as hair spray, perfumes and soaps can damage the pearl.

Pandora Leather Items - Care should be taken with leather strings. Leather is a natural material and will soften over time especially where folded or knotted. Leather care products can be used to improve the longevity of leather. Care should be taken to ensure that any leather care product used is entirely absorbed prior to wearing your jewellery.

As your jewellery is an investment, insurance is recommended. Safety chains are also recommended as an additional safeguard against accidental loss.

For maximum protection when not being worn we recommend that your bracelet is wrapped in acid-free tissue and stored in a plastic bag with an interlocking seal. This will prevent it from being exposed to sulphur in the environment that will tarnish the silver.

Only Pandora beads should be used on a Pandora bracelet. This is to prevent beads from copy brands from getting stuck on your Pandora bracelet (the threading is often poor quality on these products). Your Pandora warranty will be considered null and void should any other beads or similar products from copy brands cause damage to your Pandora bracelet.
